As we welcome the month of Syabaan and Ramadan soon again, take a pause and join us in this interactive session where Humairah will be sharing with us how journaling a Qur’an verse, understanding its meaning, and relating it to our personal stories can fill us with hope and gratitude. She names her Qur’an journaling project ‘The Light Journal’ as the Qur’an is our light and guide in times of darkness (4:174). Humairah will also be sharing how we can turn our reflection into rhyme. In these 2 sessions, we also invite you to share your favourite Qur’an verses and reflections. Through journaling His divine words and reflecting in poetic verse, we will take a quiet moment to reflect; alone and together. By journaling light, we strive to be better works in progress and work on building a stronger connection with Allah SWT every day.

In the spirit of community, we will also be crafting a collaborative reflection piece. We invite you, seekers of knowledge and lovers of language to join us in this session. Come as you are, wherever and whatever state you think you are in.

Humairah Jamil

Humairah created The Light Journal, a social media platform where she shares her Qur’an journalling and poetry that she strings as she reflects on the verse. As a lover of words, languages and all things bookish, she aims for a healthy balance between reading literature for enjoyment and books on the deen for spiritual growth; Penning down her experiences and reflecting on His words is a pursuit she strives towards.

Humairah also writes on The Book Jacket which began as a space to share brief book reviews. It has now grown into a space where she weaves a personal tapestry of thoughts of faith and other things. In 2016, she published ‘Quiet Mornings’, a poetry book collaboration with a friend. She is currently working collaboratively with a friend to publish an anthology celebrating the gift of mothers, and a book of her personal poems which she hopes to release to the world, soon.
